Kalimantan

In English, the term Kalimantan refers to the Indonesian portion of the island of Borneo,^[1] while in Indonesian, the term "Kalimantan" refers to the whole island of Borneo.^[1] The Indonesian territory makes up 73 percent of the island by area, and 70 percent (12,000,000) by population. The non-Indonesian parts of Borneo are of Brunei (609,000) and East Malaysia (6,000,000). The region is also known as Indonesian Borneo.

Kalimantan is divided into four provinces:

East Kalimantan 210,985 square kilometres (81,462 sq mi)
South Kalimantan 36,535 square kilometres (14,106 sq mi)
West Kalimantan 146,807 square kilometres (56,682 sq mi)
Central Kalimantan 36,535 square kilometres (14,106 sq mi)

Total area: 547,891 square kilometres (211,542 sq mi) ^[2]
